It would appear to be an USN Independence class CVL of WW-II in some rather seas.

Hello,

D.E.Reddick got there first,this is U.S.S.Langley.
The photograph appears to have been taken from a gun position which is even lower than the one in the picture.
There are some very impressive pictures of this carrier rolling,apparently she went over 2 degrees more than she was meant to.
