Grand Logistics (Heretic),

This is a wild-@ssed guess...

It's an aerostat or airship carrier with a clamshell hanger atop the superstructure of the vessel. I'm sure that our old friend Campbell (from New Wars) would love for it to be true. ;-)

Whoops,

I meant "Grand Logistics (tangosix),"

Sometimes I just can't keep identities straight...

Or it could carry large sections of an aerospace projects like booster sections.

Chuck,

You mean a vessel akin to USNS Point Barrow (T-AKD-1), which was a conversion to carry Saturn rockets from 1965 through 1970. There's a picture of her with a very large main deck hanger extending over one-half of her length.

Hello,

a Campbell ship, now there is an idea!
I think they would call that a "Turtle sea ship".

That is not what she is and she doesn't carry rockets either.

She does fulfill a more "military" purpose that that.

My first thought was a fast fleet tanker, but that cyclinder cant be full of fuel.

Some sort of SigInt ship?
