Hello Saturn 5,

correct.
A very interesting concept, she has just returned home from a long and successful pirate hunting deployment.

I'm impressed. I had not a clue.

First new auxiliary cruiser since WWII I would bet.

What were the mods? Looked like they removed one derrick and added the helo deck and what appears to be a hanger. Anything else?

Doesn't sound like they even changed ownership. The Company must have been pissed.

OK,

Now I recall reading about this Malaysian anti-piracy innovation in ship deployment. Didn't we discuss or at least mention this over at New Wars.

Hello Chuck Hill,

they added some boats, medical facilities, communications and light weapons:

The reasons they give for the conversion are interesting.
Range and endurance were important factors - two things you just don't get with small patrol vessels.
It is good to see a small navy demonstrating a level of common sense which is so often lacking in larger forces.

I wonder how the conversion cost compares to a Bertholf or Littoral Combat Ship?
