Sharkey Ward

Sharkey Ward is the closest thing the United Kingdom has had to a fighter ace since the Second World War.

A former Commander in the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm,he shot down 3 Argentinian aircraft while flying Sea Harriers during the Falklands War.

He was also the commander of 801 Naval Air Squadron on Her Majesty's Ship Invincible during that conflict.

Following the conflict Sharkey Ward wrote the book "Sea Harrier Over The Falklands".

Regarded by many as something of a maverick,Commander Ward has a reputation for ruffling feathers within the military establishment.

Given the abject mediocrity often to be found within the Ministry of Defence,we regard that as a very good thing.

It has recently come to our attention that Sharkey now has his own blog.

It can be found here and is well worth reading.

I am a big fan of Sir Nigel Ward
and for years have wanted to reach
the Commander to ask him if he
would sign my copy of his book
"Sea harrier over the Falklands"
I wish someone could help me
with this ?
The Sea harrier is my all time
favorite aircraft.
